This chapter is intended to serve as a planning document for the operations staff (project managers, data warehouse architects, and system administrators).

In accordance with standard industry practice, we recommend that our customers:

• Always test the product in a non-production environment with test data.
• Ensure that new version upgrades are also tested in development environments with regression tests using your data and pipelines.
• Always ensure that your data is backed up and recoverable in case of any errors during development and testing.
• Back up the Infoworks metadata repository on a regular basis, especially prior to installing an upgrade.
• Test your configurations with meaningful data and volumes so that optimizations can be performed in advance of production.
